Ottoman Social and Economic History Symposium-I / July 27, 2013

The ‘Ottoman Social and Economic History Symposium-I,’ held on July 27, 2013, was organized collaboratively by Yalova Municipality and Halil İnalcık Institute for Ottoman Studies. The event brought together participants from various backgrounds, including AK Party Yalova Deputy Temel Çoşkun, Yalova Deputy Governor Cezmi Türk Göçer, Yalova Mayor Yakup B. Koçal, Yalova University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Rıza Abay, Istanbul Şehir University Lecturer Mehmet Genç, Marmara University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and other distinguished guests.

During the symposium, Mayor Yakup Koçal highlighted the historical significance of Yalova, emphasizing its connection to the Ottoman Empire’s statehood. The event also featured the presentation of Halil İnalcık History Award, plaques, and cash prizes to Mehmet Genç and Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. The awards were presented by Yalova Deputy Governor Cezmi Türk Göçer, Mayor Yakup B. Koçal, and AK Party Yalova Deputy Temel Coşkun.
