Ottoman Empire: Foundation and Governance / July 27, 2021

In collaboration with the Provincial Administration, Halil İnalcık Ottoman History Research Institute, and Yalova University, a panel was organized on the establishment and state organization of the Ottoman Empire. The panel took place in the Provincial Administration conference hall on the 5th anniversary of Halil İnalcık’s passing, with the participation of Governor Muammer Erol, the provincial protocol, and the public. Opening speeches were delivered by our Provincial General Assembly President Hasan Soygüzel.

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yıldız, the Head of the Department of History in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Yalova University, the panel featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Oğuzoğlu, the President of the Halil İnalcık Ottoman History Research Institute, on “The Organization of the Ottoman State in its Founding Period”; Dr. Uğur İnan, Deputy Director of National Education in Yalova Province, on “The Ayan System in the Ottoman State”; and Melek Gençboyacı, Director of the National Manuscripts Library at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, on “The Costume of Humanity in the Image of the Ottoman Empire with Osman Gazi.”

Following the speeches, the speakers who participated in the panel were presented with clove paintings made from silk cocoons, representing one of the significant arts practiced in Yalova, by the provincial protocol.
